Artisan Breads & Fine Pastry

Savor each of our breads for its own sake or as a wonderful accompaniment to any meal!

Every loaf of our bread is a unique and special treat. We carefully select our ingredients, using organic flour milled by Champlain Valley Milling in Westport, New York, and purchase other ingredients direct from local producers. We do not use additives or preservatives as our traditional methods of baking make this unnecessary. Hand techniques and slow natural fermentation ensure each batch of breads is treated with personal care and attention.

The Placid Baker is an artisan bakery and eatery providing a diverse range of high quality breads and fine pastry crafted by hand under the guidance of owner Chris Snye, a formally-trained chef and self-taught pastry chef and baker. Currently working from a bakery in Westport, New York, we bring our products to two farmers markets in the capital region and are moving our location to the Albany area in early 2009.
